Most of us are knowledgeable in some segments in life, but not all areas. This is normal since we all have our uniqueness and areas of expertise. This is where professionals come in. We use professionals to guide us in different segments of our lives. A few examples are:
- Medical doctors, dentists, other health care providers
- Lawyers and financial planners
- Landscape gardener and tree arborists
- Beauticians and barbers
- Contractors and builders
The list could go on, depending on individual needs and households. When it comes to fitness, the question is why would I need a fitness coach?
Reasons for a Fitness Coach
No matter the level of experience, people use fitness coaches for a variety of reasons. Some of the reasons can include:
- Define and set goals

Three Coaching Practices
Depending on a person’s stage in their journey, coaching can look different for each individual. To simplify, I would divide the work up into 3 categories.
- Provide knowledge and principles to help lay a foundation
- Assist with practical application, individualize plans based on specific needs (Example- Mix it up- Standing Core Exercises)
- Refine and retool current practices, support continued journey
No matter where someone is on their fitness journey, I am a firm believer in this basic quote from Tom Landry. He is a famous football coach most remembered for coaching the Dallas Cowboys.
“A coach is someone who:
- Tells you what you don’t want to hear
- Who has you see what you don’t want to see
- So you can be who you have always known you could be”
We use a variety of content coaches in life to support our journey. Fitness can be one of those areas. Reach out to Fitness Life By Design when you are ready to answer,” why would I need a fitness coach?”
