Exercise and Fitness

We need to move and be active EVERY day. It does not matter what type of activity we do, as long as we are moving.

My FAVORITE activity is running and I used to consider myself solely a runner. Over time, I have learned to vary my activities to increase my overall fitness and to reduce injuries. I now have more balance in my fitness life. I feel stronger and healthier than I did when I was only a runner.

Our mission is to find activities that we LIKE to do. If you hate to run, then don’t run because you will never want to do it. If you love to swim, then swim. Play tennis or softball. Take a walk around your neighborhood or do yard work for your healthy activity.

The important thing is to pick an activity you enjoy and look forward to. The more we connect with an activity the more we will follow through and just do it!

Here are some of my favorite fitness activities: running, biking, hiking, walking, water skiing, playing with my grand-kids, core exercises, swimming, lifting weights, and yard work. I like variety in my activities. Variety helps keep me motivated and looking forward to my daily routine.

Here are a few questions for reflection:

  • Are you active and do you move every day?
  • What are some of your favorite activities?
  • What are your exercise and fitness goals? To improve? To maintain? To start?
