The pursuit of health seems universal. Regardless of where someone comes from or what challenges they face, almost everyone shares one common desire: to be healthy. While people might define health differently, at its core, it represents feeling good, having energy, and living a life free from illness. I have never met anyone who did not want to be healthy.
Why does everyone want to be healthy?
People want to be healthy because we:
- have more energy
- can do things we could not do before
- feel more positive and able to tackle the challenges in life
- can live longer
- sleep better
Why is health important?
The desire to be healthy isn’t just about looks and outward appearances. It is about living life to its fullest, chasing dreams without limitations, and enjoying meaningful relationships and activities. Health is often taken for granted. We don’t realize how valuable it is until we lose it through an injury or illness.
Health can fall into several categories.
Physical – feel better, live longer
Mental – improve mood, reduce stress
Social – strong relationships
How can you get healthy?
- Eat a healthy diet. This includes eating a variety of foods and limiting salt, sugar, and saturated fat.
- Exercise regularly. This can help you increase your lifespan, keep your joints flexible, and reduce stress.
- Stay hydrated. Drinking water can improve your thinking, digestion, and heart health.
- Get enough sleep.
- Reduce sitting and screen time.
Based on the above list, we can make small, manageable changes toward better health. When these simple habits are combined, they can have a profound impact on our wellbeing. We want to live our best, healthiest life. I have never met anyone who did not want to be healthy.
