Behind the Scenes of Working Out at the Gym

Someone asked me the other day where is the best place to work out.  Home, gym, outdoors, indoors? My answer was the location that is most motivating to you where you will WANT to complete your workout.  There is nothing magical about any location. What is special is the connection YOU feel to continue doing workouts.  For me, the gym is my place currently.  Why? Here are some behind the scenes of working out at the gym. 

Spouse

I work out most days with my husband Steve.  He does his level of weights, and I do mine. It is motivating to support, challenge, and encourage each other in our quest to be fit and gain muscle to age in a healthy manner.

Coach

We meet our amazing coach Tyler @ty2x _fitness during our first month at the club over two years ago.  We have been working with him since.  There are several reasons we work out with a trainer.

  • Develops programs for us to meet our goals
  • Changes up our workouts to keep our muscles challenged
  • Teaches us new routines and how to correctly use all the tools/equipment
  • Supports us in our quest to age in a healthy manner
  • Coaches me on my running journey
  • Gives us homework (workouts) to do in between sessions

Friend

My favorite story is one where we barter for our strengths.  I have a friend who is an excellent pickleball player and coach.  She coaches and drills with me so I can improve my pickleball skills.  In return, I am her coach on fitness and strength building.  We weight lift together as she works on her goal of increasing her muscle strength. 

My behind the scenes of working out at the gym is lifting with my husband, friend, and coach.  It does not matter where you choose to work out, what matters is that you prioritize your time so you do complete your strength training.
