If one of your friends needed help, you would show up for them? Would you stop what you are doing and prioritize them and their needs? My guess is that yes, you would do this for your friends and loved ones. The next question is do you prioritize yourself? If you do, great, if not, then why don’t you show up for yourself? Do you need to start now to prioritize your fitness goals?
Show Up for Yourself
Here are some of the details of what it looks like to show up for yourself every day.
- Consistent-take care of yourself every day, do it on a regular basis. Act in the same way over time. Know exactly what you will do for yourself daily.
- Determined-put in the hard work, have resolve and don’t change it. Be 100% committed to the right actions that will help you move the needle.
- Stay the course-you don’t have to be special. You need to prioritize yourself and your goals. As the famous quarterback, Tom Brady says “to be successful at anything, the truth is you don’t have to be special. You just have to be willing to work for it. No shortcuts.”
Pick 3
As an example, if one of your goals is to age in a healthy manner, commit to doing 3 things daily that will benefit your health and fitness. Choose three from the following list:
- Exercise, move, stay active, take a walk
- Lift weights, build strength and muscle mass
- Eat whole foods, plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks
- Stay hydrated– drink ½ your body weight in oz of water each day (100 lbs = 50 oz)
- Prioritize sleep- go to bed earlier, turn off screens, work towards 7-9 hours of sleep.
- Reduce stress in your life, focus on what you can control
