Movement and Exercise Have Become Wanted Cravings

Sedentary lifestyles used to take precedence, now they seem to be a thing of the past.  People see the benefits from their physical and mental wellbeing. Movement and exercise have become wanted cravings.

I wake up every single morning with that craving.  I know or quickly develop a plan for what activity I will engage in that morning.  If I do not have a plan in place, then I start to feel unsettled.  Exercise is my first activity or conversation of the day.

We are currently participating in a challenge at our gym.  This defiantly is a motivator for me.  There are currently 4 of us, out of 54, that are in first place.  We have perfect challenge scores, and you can bet I will do what I need to do to stay that way during the entire monthly challenge.

People hear the alarming statistics from the American culture.  Since they do not want to be one of them, some are upping their fitness game. Here are some of the reasons that these cravings are increasing in society.

Fitness Technology

The increase in smart fitness apps, home workout programs and wearable fitness trackers have made it easier to track progress and provide motivation. These tech options make exercise more engaging and help people stay on track.

Challenges at the Gym

Friendly challenges and competitions for bragging rights is a great way to stay motivated and help achieve your fitness goals.

Role Models in Others

People set good example for us, and we set good examples for them.  It is a two-way street. One never knows when their actions and routines are being watched and emulated by others.

Awareness of Numerous Benefits

Exercise is no longer viewed as only a means to achieve a certain body image.  It is now understood that exercise is a tool for managing stress, improving mood, boosting energy levels, and enhancing overall well-being.

Value Self-care

Self-care practices have contributed to the desire for exercise. Prioritizing one’s physical and mental health through movement is a vital aspect of a well-balanced life.

Summary

Craving for movement and exercise is a positive shift in our society.  People see the many benefits of staying active and the importance of physical and mental well-being.  With the growing wellness mindset, movement and exercise have become wanted cravings.
