Most of my interests center around fitness, wellness, and aging in a healthy manner. These principles guide most of my decisions. You could say that I live the title…” shift your interests into your message in life.”
I like spending my time building strength and lifting weights in the gym, hiking in the mountains, playing pickleball, running, paddle boarding, riding bikes, cooking healthy meals, etc. I have converted my pastimes and passions into my life mission.
5 Phases
I see people go through 5 different phases on their journey through life. They slowly make shifts that fall into the following categories as they make their message their mission in life.
These 5 are: compliance, impact, service, fidelity, sustainability. Here is what each stage means and then an example.
Compliance
- doing it because you must, checking it off a list, getting it behind you
- take a walk because you “have” to. It is not necessarily an enjoyable activity, but you get to check it off when you are finished
Impact
- having a strong effect on someone, being a role model, others notice what you are doing
- your new habit is being noticed by others, and they are starting to watch what you are doing and the results you are getting
Service
- giving, helping or volunteering to do work for someone, taking care of someone or something
- you ask a friend to join you on your walks, you talk about the benefits you have seen and encourage others
Fidelity
- acting with integrity, engaging in something because you want to, seeing the benefits, feeling the accomplishment
- take a walk because you “want” to or it is the right thing to do for your health, you notice the benefits this activity is providing to you
Sustainability
- looking for ways to keep going, continuing loyalty and support, living your life passion
- walk daily because it is what you do, it is your habit, it is part of your daily routine and part of who you are
What is your passion in life? Do you want to develop a new one? What phase most relates to where you are? Do you make decisions based on the principles of your interests? Do you shift your interests into your message in life.”
